At Starkid School & Rescue Centre, we believe that no child should have to learn on an empty stomach. Yet for many of our students, this is their daily reality. Hunger is not just a physical pain—it’s a barrier to education, concentration, and long-term development. That’s why our Feeding Program is one of the most important lifelines we provide. 🍛 Hunger in the Classroom Imagine trying to focus on a math lesson or read a book while your stomach growls from the night before. For many of our children, school is the only place they’ll receive a hot meal. Without adequate nutrition, students become fatigued, disengaged, and more likely to miss school altogether. Our feeding program steps in to break that cycle. Every day, we prepare nutritious meals to help our children stay energized and focused in class. Meals often include staples like rice, beans, vegetables, or porridge—simple but powerful fuel for growing minds and bodies. “When I know there’s food at school, I come early and stay the whole day. I can listen and I feel strong,” says Emmanuel, a Grade 6 pupil. 🧠 The Link Between Nutrition and Learning Studies show that well-nourished children learn better. They score higher on tests, attend school more regularly, and interact better with peers. At Starkid, we’ve seen this firsthand: The impact of one meal a day ripples into better grades, stronger confidence, and brighter futures. 🌾 Sustainability & Challenges We do our best to source food locally and grow some produce through our agricultural project as part of the competency-based curriculum (CBC). However, with rising food prices and increasing student numbers, meeting the daily demand is becoming harder. That’s why we need your support.
